Bautzen is easily accessible via the A4 motorway, several major federal roads as well as through the connections to the regional railway network.
Arrival by car
From the motorway A4 (E40) you can easily access Bautzen from the direction of Dresden or Görlitz. Possible exits are Salzenforst, Bautzen-West (with a panoramic view of the old town) and Bautzen-East.
Travel by bus and train
Thanks to the long-distance bus service from Flixbus, Bautzen is now easily reachable from Prague, Berlin, Breslau and Munich. The long-distance busses stop at the tourist car park, on Schliebenstraße.
You can reach Bautzen by train from Dresden on the line to Görlitz. The journey time is between 46 min (regional express) and 54 min (regional railway).
Arrival by plane
The nearest airport is Dresden International Airport (DRS). From there you can continue by car or train to Bautzen.
For business trips, private aviation can use the local Bautzen Airport. Cities such as Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Bratislava, Vienna, Linz and Salzburg can be reached in about one hour.
