Barrier free access for the disabled
The city of Bautzen ensures barrier-free tourist facilities for travelers with mobility restrictions, but also for people with sensory impairments or for people with learning disabilities and mentally handicapped.
Bautzen city model for the visually impaired
Since 2017, visitors can explore Bautzen with their fingertips. Determined organisers and generous donors have made it possible: Bautzen is now one of the few places where visually impaired people can orient themselves using a specially created city model.
The three-dimensional city map, which shows the old town on a scale of 1:500, is also an invaluable resource for all visitors – everyone is fascinated by the intricate details – which ensures that, day after day, crowds of people form around the bronze work of art on the main market square.
